Each month, in each grade, Washington honors those students chosen by the staff in their grade level for “Super Thoughtful and Responsible & Respectable” behavior with a STAR award. Those chosen in the 6th grade are given a one-period party, where they receive refreshments, decorate their star, and socialize and play games. Their star is then posted on the 6th Grade STARs bulletin board on the upper level. All teachers of 6th grade students must agree on a nomination, and sometimes it takes several months for a nominated student to make it.
