We've tried to answer some of the most common questions parents and students have in this section. If you wish, you can browse through a list of all the questions and answers, with the most recent at the top. What will probably be more helpful, though, is to choose a specific interest area as follows: on the right side of this page is a "Categories" list. Click on the area your question falls under to bring up a list of questions and answers in that area only (sometimes there will be more than one page of questions and answers). If your question is not there, or if you don't see an area for your question, please contact us using the form below, and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.

Can you schedule my student with her friends?

The first priority in scheduling is to make sure every student has a complete schedule, and that they each have all four of the core subject courses (Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, and Science) for their program. We do not schedule students around their friendships, except in unusual circumstances (e.g., a student coming to WMS from another school who only knows one student in the school, or a student with specific issues that have previously been discussed with the grade-level counselor, etc.) Students usually have the chance to be with friends each day at lunch. And, this being middle school, old friendships can change quickly, while new ones are created.

My student didn’t get the course she wanted. What happened?

The first priority in scheduling is to make sure every student has a complete schedule, and that they each have all four of the core subject courses (Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, and Science) for their program. Due to the complexities of scheduling 1100 students, and legal limits on teacher classroom and total student loads, we may have to schedule students into courses that were not their first choice.

How can I get a copy of my student’s schedule?

Your student was given a copy on the first day of school. You can also find a schedule on your student’s Source page. The Registrar will also have one. Finally, your grade-level counselor can print one out for you.

My student lost her school ID. What should she do?

She can speak with her grade-level counselor or grade-level administrator.

How can I find out my student’s school ID number?

Contact your student’s grade-level counselor. You can also call the school’s main number (206-252-2600) and ask for the Registrar.
